Lakewood, N.J.- On a night when nine different Lions got into the scoring column, it was not enough to fend off the Golden Falcons of Felician University as the visitors escaped with a 63-55 win over the Georgian Court University men's basketball squad.
GCU (2-14, 1-8 CACC) jumped out to an early 5-2 lead before Felician answered with a 7-0 run before
Michael Pierre's three-pointer got the Lions rolling again. Through the first ten minutes, the teams were deadlocked at 15. The rest of the half see-sawed with Felician (5-10, 3-6 CACC) taking a slim three-point lead into the break. The game remained a close contest throughout the second half with the Lions cutting the lead to two on multiple occasions, but it was not enough as
Tim Massado's (Jr.-Wilmington, Del.) trifecta with 7:40 to go extended the Golden Falcons' lead, which they would not relinquish.
Pierre led the balanced Lion attack with 15 points.
Juwuan Carter and
Luka Zgonjanin each added nine points.
Keith Hughes had a game-high 14 rebounds helping GCU to a 37-30 edge on the glass.
Massado came off the Golden Falcons' bench to lead all scorers with 17.
Jeyvi Miavivululu's (Sr.-Paterson, N.J.) 14 points and eight rebounds, along with
Jamal Reid's (Jr.-Newark, N.J.) ten points were enough for the win.
Georgian Court will take to the road next Wednesday, January 20, as the Lions travel to Delaware to square off with the Wilmington University Wildcats. The squad will return home on January 23rd when they face CACC rival Caldwell University for a 2:30pm tipoff.
