Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad suffered a 73-56 road setback Wednesday evening at Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.

The Wildcats (9-10, 4-6 CACC) sweep the season series from GCU (5-13, 3-7 CACC), having also defeated the Lions in the Wellness Center back on December 5th, 71-48.

Wilmington never trailed in the contest, opening the first quarter with a 13-4 advantage 6:18 into the game. The Wildcats lead would inflate to a first-half high of 12 points on three separate occasions with leads of 28-16, 30-18 and 32-20 in the second stanza.

The Wildcats' surplus would grow to 21 twice in the third period with the latter coming with 39 ticks remaining in the frame, 53-32. That would be all she wrote for Georgian Court as the Lions would not claw closer than 14 points the remainder of the way.

Tenicia Spence (Sr.-Baltimore, Md.) paced Wilmington with 16 points, shooting 6-for-19 from the floor. Jocelyn Rodriguez (Jr.-Wilmington, Del.) netted 11 points for the home team while swiping seven steals. Jordan Hawkins (Fr.-Glen Burnie, Md.) fell a point short of a double-double with nine points and a team-best 13 rebounds, while also blocking four shots. Former Lion, Ashri Broadwater (Sr.-Chicago, Ill.), snared 12 boards and collected eight points.

Jada Atchison, the reigning CACC Co-Rookie of the Week, topped Georgian Court with 20 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field. Jess Placher added 10 points for the Lions while Alliyah Berger controlled 12 rebounds, while tallying eight points and dishing five assists. Destiny Thompson, GCU's leading rebounder on the year, cleaned the glass with 10 boards.

The Lions will now return home to host Caldwell University this Friday at 5:00 p.m.
