Pleasantville, N.Y.- Playing its second game in as many days, the Georgian Court University men's basketball squad dropped a 95-78 decision to Adelphi University Saturday afternoon to close out the Northeast-10/CACC Conference Challenge, hosted by Pace University.

The Lions (0-2) experienced their first advantage of the young season when a Keith Hughes layup provided GCU a 6-5 surplus 2:37 into the contest. The Panthers would proceed to outscore Georgian Court, 49-22, over the remainder of the first half to cruise into intermission with a healthy lead. 

GCU, as was the case the previous evening in its contest vs. Pace, came out of the locker rejuvenated as the Lions outscored Adelphi (2-0) by a 51-40 margin over the final 20 minutes. 

Adelphi shot an astounding 64% (32-for-50) from the field in the victory, compared to 37.5% by the Lions (27-for-72).  GCU did improve its performance from the free-throw stripe however, connecting on 19 of 26 attempts (73.1%) from the line.

Hughes, with his eight rebounds, becomes the first player in program history to eclipse the 500-rebound threshold (501) as the senior did so in his 73rd career contest. Keith also buried a team-high 19 minutes in his 25 minutes of action.

Tony Ellington Jr., in his second collegiate game, drained 16 points and dished three assists over 19 minutes. Juwuan Carter, coming off the GCU bench, contributed 11 points while Nikola Vujovic drained 10 of his own.

Georgian Court will next take the floor on Wednesday evening as the Lions open CACC play at Chestnut Hill College. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m.
