Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad suffered an agonizing defeat vs. visiting Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon as the Lions relinquished a 12-point halftime lead, setting the stage for the eventual 61-41 non-conference setback in the GCU Wellness Center.
The Lions (2-4) looked to be well on their way to the Thanksgiving break triumph after rolling to a 19-4 advantage after the initial quarter of the contest and a 29-17 lead heading into intermission. Bloomsburg, seeking its first victory of the season, came out of the locker room possessed as the Huskies (1-3) dominated GCU over the final 20 minutes of play by a mark of 44-12 to secure the unexpected comeback win.
Morgan Klunk (Sr.-Felton, Pa.) will most certainly be seen in the Lions' dreams for nights to come as the Bloomsburg baller netted 20 points, 19 of which she drained in that epic second stanza. Klunk also grabbed 12 boards in the win, to go along with a team-high four assists and two blocks.
Alyssa Mack (So.-Walnutport, Pa.) contributed 17 points in the victory while
Alex Ross (Sr.-Lancaster, Pa.) added 11 of her own.
On the GCU front,
Destiny Thompson poured in a team-high 14 points in the effort.
Alliyah Berger added nine points, which complemented the senior's team-best eight boards and four assists.
Georgian Court returns to action Wednesday evening with a CACC road trip to Goldey-Beacom College. The Lions will take on the host-Lightning at 6:00 p.m.
