#1 Georgian Court Suffers Crushing 1-0 Loss to #2 Caldwell in 2016 CACC Title Game

Lakewood, N.J.- Looking for its first conference title since 2010, the top-seeded Georgian Court University women's soccer squad took to the pitch Sunday morning vs. #2 Caldwell University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Championship game, hosted by GCU.

As was the case in last season's tournament, it would again be the Cougars that would get the best of the Lions in the postseason as Caldwell escaped with a 1-0 triumph to earn the 2016 CACC crown.

Emily Valerian (So.-Roseland, N.J.) provided all the scoring the victors would need as she gathered a Jessica Garretson (Sr.-Atco, N.J.) helper and blasted a shot off the left inside post, which caromed in for Valerian's 10th tally of the season at 21:27.

GCU outshot Caldwell, 18-8, but could not find the back of the net.

Kylie Whalen (Sr.-Hazlet, N.J.) earned the win in goal with six saves for the Cougars, which improve to 12-7-2 on the year. Natalie Axelsson collected one save in 90:00 for the 14-5-1 Lions.

Axelsson, along with Tayler Bramley and Kaitlin Lister, represented Georgian Court on the All-Tournament team, which was selected at the end of the match.
