Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad continues to seek its first conference victory, and first triumph away from the confines of the GCU Wellness Center, as the Lions experienced a 66-34 defeat vs. host-Philadelphia University Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The Lady Rams (5-4, 2-2 CACC) led the charge throughout the contest, limiting the Lions (2-7, 0-5 CACC) to single digits in three of the game's four quarters.Â
Alliyah Berger topped the visitors with her nine points over 38 minutes of action.
Alba Herrero-Gomez added eight points of her own while registering three blocks in the effort. The sophomore Spaniard now ranks third in the CACC with 14 overall denials.
Nijiera Addison grabbed a team-best eight rebounds in her 22 minutes off the GCU bench.
"We are continuing to work through the absence of our point guard,
Jada Atchison," stated Head Coach
Jazz Perazic. The most positive thing that we have had so far is the continued improved play by Addison and consistency in effort and great leadership from Berger, our senior guard
. Today we had the opportunity to give extended minutes to our two freshmen guards,
Kaitlyn Borghesi and
Kaitlyn Lister, which should benefit our team's future performance. Our defense is continuing to improve and promises to be something we will be able to count on on the regular basis."
The Lions return home to host Wilmington University this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in another CACCÂ battle.
