Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball team struggled offensively as the Lions mustered only 43 points in a 65-43 setback to visiting Philadelphia University Thursday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
The victory marked the 20th of the season for the Rams (20-6, 13-4 CACC) while the Lions slipped to 5-20 (4-14 CACC) overall.
GCU jumped out to a commanding 11-3 advantage 7:09 into the contest before Philadelphia closed the initial half with a mighty 32-8 run. The Rams controlled the action moving forward by outscoring the home team, 30-24, in the second stanza.
Senior
Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) orchestrated a double-double performance for the Rams with 15 points and 12 boards, which included the 2,000th point of his collegiate career.
Gemil Holbrook (Fr.-Darby, Pa.) topped all players with his 19 points, depositing sixth three-pointers in the process.
TJ Huggins (So.-Alexandria, Va.) added 13 points and eight assists while
Brendan Kilpatrick (Jr.-Norristown, Pa.) provided 12 points of his own.
Juwuan Carter paced the Lions with 10 points while
Nikola Vujovic added nine points and a team-best seven rebounds.
The Lions close out the regular season Tuesday evening with an 8:00 p.m. home game vs. Goldey-Beacom College. GCU will honor its seniors,
Lindon Lulgjuraj and
Jakov Pilic, prior to the opening tip.
