Lakewood, N.J.- The Philadelphia University women's basketball squad marched into Georgian Court University's Wellness Center Thursday evening and defeated the host-Lions, 77-62, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference divisional action.
The Lady Rams earned their 20th victory of the season (20-6) and improved to an impressive 16-1 in conference play. GCU succumbs to 6-20 (4-14 CACC) with the setback.
Mary Newell (Sr.-Lansdale, Pa.) led the Philly charge with her double-double effort of 25 points and 12 rebounds while adding an additional five assists.
Tori Arnao (Sr.-Newtown, Pa.) contributed a double-double performance of her own with 17 points and a game-best 15 boards.
Bria Young (Sr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) also drained 17 points, one of which represented the 1000th point of her collegiate career.
Jessica Kaminski (Fr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) eclipsed the double-digit mark with her 10 points while also dishing five helpers.
For the Lions,
Alliyah Berger authored her team-leading ninth 20+-point effort and fifth double-double as she knocked down a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in the effort.
Jada Atchison contributed 18 points while
Destiny Thompson added 11 of her own.
Georgian Court closes out the 2015-16 calendar Tuesday night when the Lions host Goldey-Beacom College at 6:00 p.m. GCU will celebrate seniors
