GCU Women Unable to Concoct Winning Elixir as Lions Fall to USciences, 63-49

Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad returned to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition Tuesday evening as the Lions scuttled south to take on the University of the Sciences in a divisional showdown.

The Devils (17-4, 11-1 CACC) controlled the contest from the opening tip as the home team developed a speedy 15-3 first quarter advantage that would never be surmounted.

GCU's Alliyah Berger tied for the game-high with her 17 points on the night to go along with seven rebounds and a robust six helpers. Kaitlyn Lister poured in a personal season-best 12 points in 28 minutes off the Lions' bench, including a 5-for-7 effort from the floor.

"(Kaitlyn) Lister is starting to feel more comfortable in practices and in games," stated Georgian Court's Jazz Perazic. "Her effort is always there. As I said before, we will keep fighting ... I am very proud of our second half effort."

Four shooters achieved double-digit scoring efforts for USciences, led by Alex Thomas's (So.-Hockessin, Del.) 17 total points.

The Lions return to the hardwood this Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when they host Bloomfield College in association with Georgian Court University's annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day celebration.
