Late-Minute Charge Secures 79-67 Road Victory for Dominican Over Georgian Court

Box Score Lakewood, N.J.- An 11-0 run over the final five minutes of regulation skewed what was an otherwise neck-and-neck affair as Dominican College escaped Georgian Court University with a 79-67 victory Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's hoops action.

The Lions (3-21, 1-16 CACC) escaped a thrilling first half that saw 11 separate stalemates with a slim 35-34 advantage. A pair of Ivana Kovacev free throws at 9:24 in the third put the home team ahead, 37-36, before a 12-0 spurt catapulted the Lady Chargers (10-15, 10-6 CACC) to a 48-37 surplus with 6:53 left in the period.

Kaitlyn Lister's sinking of two foul shots with 1:11 left in the third frame capped a countering 14-4 rally by the Lions, cutting the deficit to 52-51. With GCU in possession of a 63-62 advantage with just 5:31 left in the contest, Dominican proceeded to launch into its game-busting scoring streak as the Lady Chargers took an insurmountable 74-63 lead with just 1:37 to go.

"Dominican was totally under control and poised today," stated GCU head coach Jazz Perazic. "We are work in progress. Now we will do our best to prepare to make Thursday's Senior Night a great one. It will be an emotional game for our three seniors and the entire team."

Lisa Bouffard (Sr.-Wallkill, N.Y.) paced the Lady Chargers with her game-high 25 points, shooting 11-of-17 from the floor. Rebecca Rabeiro (Jr.-Midland Park, N.J.) provided a balanced attack with 14 points, six assists and five steals while Jacqueline Rywalt (Sr.-Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) added 10 points and four assists.

Jada Atchison topped the Lions with her 15 points over 33 minutes of action. Alliyah Berger contributed her team-leading sixth double-double with 13 points and 11 boards while Lister registered double-digits with her 11 points on the day. Destiny Thompson and Jaelyn Tweedy added nine points apiece.

GCU closes out its home schedule this Thursday evening when they host Philadelphia University at 6:00 p.m. The Lions will honor their three seniors, Berger, Kovacev, and Brittany Hooks in a Senior Night celebration prior to tip-off.
