Box Score Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad, playing its third straight home game to start the season, suffered a doozy of a defeat Wednesday afternoon as visiting Pace University (1-2) escaped with a 1-0 overtime triumph in NCAA Division II non-conference action.
Both clubs played over 96 minutes (96:19) of scoreless soccer before
Gina Henson (Carmel, N.Y.) took matters into her own hands (and feet) as the freshman belted a lofty 30-yard boot that just evaded the outstretched arms of GCU keeper,
Victoria Stahl, to collect her first collegiate goal in game-winning fashion. Fellow frosh,
Gabby Lucas (Beacon, N.Y.), was credited with the assist on the play.
Stahl, in her first-ever start for the Lions, provided a solid showing for GCU as the sophomore kept the home team in the game to the end (1 save).
Aisha Chauhan (Sr.-Carteret, N.J.) registered the win for the Setters, collecting two saves in 51:19 of action.
The Lions outshot Pace, 11-8, with a slim 5-3 advantage when it came to shots-on-goal.
GCU (1-2) now looks forward to its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season debut this Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. game at Dominican College.
