East Stroudsburg/Collegeville, Pa.- Georgian Court University Track & Field split its squad Saturday as the Lions' throwers competed in the East Stroudsburg University DeSchriver Invitational, while the rest of the team entered the Ursinus College Frank Colden Invite.
In men's throw competition,
Troy Bass registered a new personal record in the Weight Throw with a second-place hurl of 15.86 meters.
William Goldsborough countered with a second-place finish of his own in the Weight Throw, registering an effort of 16.14m.
Ryan Roger followed with a Weight Throw mark of 15.97m (4th-place) while
Alejandro Valdez eclipsed his personal-best in the event with a sixth-place distance of 15.19m.
As for the women's throwers,
Stephanie Bock took second overall in the Shot Put at 12.46m, complemented by a fourth-place finish in the Weight Throw at 14.27m.
Samantha Smith launched a Weight Throw heave of 13.80m (5th-place) while
Michelle Almeida took ninth in the Shot Put (11.22m).
Over at Ursinus, the GCU gentlemen dominated in the 60m Hurdles as
Devin Martin (8.39 seconds),
Henry Jean-Michel (8.58) and
Emeron Hernandez-Mayers (8.80) finished one-two-three in the standings while
Kraig Ruff authored a P.R. in the same event at 8.99 seconds.
Hussein Elmeshad topped all-comers in the 5,000m Run with a blazing finish of 15:54.87. The freshmen quartet of Hernandez-Mayers, Jean-Michel,
Ian Knapp and
Cameron Shaw cruised to a second-place finish in the 4 X 200 Relay.
On the track,
Nathan Gill soared to a first-place finish in the High Jump at 1.93m.
Evan Boyce took third-place in the Pole Vault at 4.25m.
Dylan Breen came in third overall in the Long Jump (6.91), followed by
Joshua Clyburn and his personal-best of 6.81m (6th-overall).
The Lions took the top-three slots in the Triple Jump as
Jeshurun Devero (1st-13.55m), Martin (2nd-3.48m) and
DaShawn Lamar-Baldwin (3rd-13.36m) dominated the field.
In women's action, the Lions enjoyed a pair of first-place finishes in the relays. The GCU foursome of
Aretha Edwards,
Charisma Bosley,
Kevona Jones and
Aniyah Russell secured the top mark in the 4 X 200 Relay at 1:45.99 while
Kylie Jones,
Rachel Pausz,
Meesha Samuels and
Janice Vargas nailed a first-place time of 10:34.71 in the 4 X 800.
Lyric Green (10.92m) and
Shanae Rayside (10.77m) took fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the Triple Jump to highlight the women's field competition.
GCU will next take to the track on Friday with an appearance in the Fastrack National Invitational, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
