About the Indoor Season
• While there are many similarities between the indoor and outdoor seasons, there are some key differences.
• The first is the track itself. Outdoors is a consistent 400m flat track. Indoor tracks vary in size and shape.
• The track at OceanBreeze in Staten Island is a 200m banked track.
• Events also undergo some change. The short sprints get even shorter as the 100m dash and hurdles drops to 60m.
• On the other end of the spectrum, there is no 10,000m race.
• There are only two throwing events as the discus, hammer throw and javelin are outdoor only events. Throwers only compete in the shot put and weight throw.
Last Time Out
• The last time Georgian Court competed as a full squad was back in December, 2025. Their only full team meet until this point.
• GCU did send some throwers to the SPIRE/Throws America Throws/Jumps Festival last weekend in Geneva, Ohio.
Bettering the Best
• At that throws meet last weekend, Lions junior
Mark Linton bettered his own school record in the weight throw.
• He set a record last season and thus far has surpassed it with a mark of 57-7.5.
New Look Top-10
• After just one and a half meets, the Georgian Court all-time top-10 indoor list underwent some dramatic changes.
• There's already been 20 new marks enter the top-10 for the 2025-26 season.
Fab Freshmen
• Many of those new top-10 marks come from freshmen.
• On the women's side, it took just one meet for
Daizhae' Brown to enter her name in three events, the 60m, long jump and triple jump.
•
Sydney Hurley is another freshman who jumped her way into the top-10 in the pole vault.
• For the men,
Barone Vankline moved into not only the top-10, but the top-5 in both the 60m and 200m dashes.
• Also in the sprints,
Brian Kutney entered the top-10 in the 60m hurdles and
Stephen Lane did so in the 500m.
• Two freshmen horizontal jumpers,
Chuck Smith in the long jump and
Shona Mutokuto in the triple jump made the top-10 as well.
It wasn't just the freshmen getting into the top-10. There were plenty of returners and transfers who had strong season debuts as well.
•
Jewel Pierrecharles set a PR and moved up the top-10 in the 60m dash and the triple jump.
•
Tishanna Cohen entered the Lions top-five in the triple jump.
• For the men,
Zachary Spoonire made some noise in the 500m while Ivan Ramos Lopez set a PR in the pole vault.
• The throws have already seen returners
Mark Linton and
Guius Dabney improve in the weight throw.
• Transfer students,
Cameren Anderson in the shot put and weight throw, and
Gary Boyd, Jr. in the high jump needed just one meet to climb into the top-10.
The Indoor Schedule
• Georgian Court will compete at OceanBreeze in Staten Island in five of seven meets this season, including the ECC Championship meet.
• The other two races are the Franklin and Marshall Invitational and the Alvernia PLEX Shootout.
• This is Georgian Court's first full meet of 2026.
• The ECC Championship meet, held at OceanBreeze, takes place Sunday, February 15, 2026.
