Staten Island, N.Y. - In what marks Georgian Court University's final tuneup before next Saturday's East Coast Conference Indoor Conference Championship, the Lions' built up some positive momentum with four new program records in Friday's Fastrack National Invite, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
On the women's ledger,
Aretha Edwards placed ninth overall in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.95 seconds, edging the team mark established three weeks ago by teammate
Charisma Bosley (25.97 seconds, Youngstown State University College Invitational, 1/18/19).
Three Lions (
Chukwuebizie Anuamadi,
Dashawn Lamar-Baldwin, and
Hussein Elmeshad) bested their own high-water marks in the men's annals.
Anuamadi finished first overall with a time of 1:56.81 in the 800m Run, eclipsing his previous-best of 1:57.07 ( Youngstown State University College Invitational, 1/18/19). Lamar-Baldwin took seventh in the 400m Dash (50.44 seconds), knocking off his former top time of 50.49 (Youngstown State University College Invitational, 1/18/19).
Elmeshad followed the way of his teammates by taking down his time in the 3,000m Run (8:57.63, STAC Invite, 1/11/19) by finishing Friday's race at 8:54.76 (17th overall).
Lyric Green enjoyed a seventh-place leap of 11.41 meters in the women's Triple Jump.
The GCU men tallied five additional Top-10 finishes on the day, including three in the Long Jump (
Cameron Shaw, 2nd pl., 6.75m;
Kennedy Omari, 3rd, 6.68m;
Dylan Breen, 9th, 6.83m-Invite).
William Goldsborough fired a throw of 15.11m (8th) in the Shot Put while
Ian Knapp took 9th in the 200m Dash (22.64 seconds).
The aforementioned ECC Indoor Championships will be held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
