Felician Fleeces Georgian Court With Fourth-Quarter Comeback to Salvage 61-58 Home Win ... Lions Now Prepare For Postseason

Box Score Rutherford, N.J. - Owning a six-point lead heading into the final frame in Saturday's regular-season finale at Felician University, Georgian Court University was unable to maintain its advantage as the Golden Falcons clawed away at the Lions to secure a 24-15 fourth quarter en route to a 61-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball home win. 

GCU set the tone in the first half by outscoring its host, 32-25. The aforementioned six-digit surplus entering the last quarter grew to a game-high 11-points when a pair of Ivona Karkic free throws put the Lions ahead. 50-39,with 7:15 remaining in regulation. Felician proceeded to tear away on a 18-2 run to wipe clean the deficit and take a 57-52 lead of its own with 3:22 to go.

A Jada Atchison three-pointer slipped the Lions back ahead at 58-57 with just 1:11 left before the Golden Falcons secured the contest's final four points to nail down the conference victory.

The triumph completes Felician's regular-season mark at 9-17 (9-10 CACC) as the Golden Falcons secure the #4 seed in CACC North Division standings. They will now take on #1 overall seed, University of the Sciences, Tuesday evening in the CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinals.

Kameron Stone (Sr.-Bronx, N.Y.) contributed a solid double-double effort consisting of 21 points and 17 rebounds for Felician. Bionca Chambers (So.-Bronx, N.Y.) provided a balanced attack of 17 points, nine steals, and five boards while Kristin Smith (Sr.-Hainesport, N.J.) grabbed 11 boards to go along with seven points.

Krakic carried the Lions' lineup with her team-best 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Safiyyah Lee returned to the lineup to produce a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards. Jada Atchison matched her teammate with 10 points of her own while Destiny Thompson drained nine points and cleared the glass of 12 rebounds.

The Lions, with its 12-15 ledger (12-7 CACC), heads to the CACC postseason for the first time in 16 years this Tuesday (6:00 p.m.) with a visit to Caldwell University (#2 North). GCU dropped the Cougars, 72-62, on the road back on Jan. 5 in the two squads' previous meeting.
