West Long Branch, N.J.- A week after knocking off two team records at Stockton, the Georgian Court University men's track & field squad erased four more this weekend as the Lions' competed in the 24th-annual Monmouth University Season Opener.
Chukwuebizie Anuamadi (800m Run),
Devin Martin (110m Hurdles, Triple Jump) and the 4X400m Relay quartet of Anuamdi,
Ian Knapp,
DaShawn Lamar-Baldwin and
Jake Thoms added their names to the Georgian Court annals with record-breaking performances in the second outdoor meet of the season.
Anuamadi, with his third-place time of 1:56.17, eclipsed the previous program-best of 1:56.82 set by
Jhonathan Matamoros back on Apr. 18, 2015 at the CTC Championships. The freshman and his fellow teammates registered a second-place mark of 3:25.42, topping the time of 3:25.84 owned by Matamoros,
Nicholas Claudeo,
Tom Natoli and
Michael Rogers (Apr. 4, 2015, Stockton Osprey Open).
Martin continues his stellar season by taking second-place overall in the 110m Hurdles (15.15 seconds), erasing
Phil Zimmermann and his old record of 15.44 (Apr. 18, 2015-CTC Championships). The junior followed that by besting the team mark in the Triple Jump for the second week in a row with a new high of 13.99 meters. Martin posted a leap of 13.95m a week ago at the Stockton Invitational.
Nathan Gill (1.90m) and
William Goldsborough (49.22m) contributed third-place finishes in the High Jump and the Discus, respectively.
