Lakewood, N.J.- Georgian Court University's
Niklas Laenger has earned the distinct honor of selection to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, released last month.
Laenger, a biochemistry major from Hanover, Germany owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75, joining
Antonio Zhu Sanchez of Dominican College and Wilmington University's
Shawn Genus and
Carson Talboys as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's only representatives on this elite list.
Laenger recorded his third All-CACC accolade this past season as a force across the entire pitch for the royal-and-gold. A feared presence throughout his collegiate career, the the senior demonstrated stifling defense, playing a vital role in landing the Lions four shutout victories in '21.
The 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Niklas, along with his fellow First-team Academic All-District™ honorees, advances to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The Lions climbed to as high as #21 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll this season, posting an overall record of 10-5-3.
