Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's track & field squad collected the fifth outdoor title in program history as the Lions topped the field at Friday's 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championship Meet.
GCU compiled 262 total points to earn this year's crown as the Lions dominated the field. Bloomfield College placed second with 112 points, followed by Wilmington University with 77 overall.
Devin Martin paced the victors with wins in the 110m Hurdles (14.84 seconds), Pole Vault (2.45m), Long Jump (6.86m) and Triple Jump (14.89m). The senior snapped a pair of team records in the process, breaking the previous-high of 15.02 seconds in the 110m Hurdles (
Henry Jean-Michel, 5/5/19, CACC Championships) and 14.60 in the Triple Jump (
Jeshurun Devero, 3/26/21, Stockton University Invite).
Xavier Seals, the Georgian Court University Men's Rookie of the Year, shined in his first appearance on the CACC big stage as the freshman took the top spot in both the 800m Run (1:55.18) and the 1,500m Run (4:07.27),
Jarod Brzyski scored a first-place time of 16.06.73 in the 5,000m Run.
Kyle Spector scorched the team record in the 3,000m Steeplechase (Patrick Parr, 10:09.59, CACC Championships, 5/7/17) with a finish of 10:08.42.
In field competition,
Ryan Roger scored first-place finishes of 48.52 meters in the Discus and 15.60 meters in the Shot Put.
Kyle Muir let loose a top throw of 55.82 meters to earn the win in the Javelin. The aforementioned Lamar-Baldwin and Martin tied for the lead in the Pole Vault as each cleared a height of 2.45 meters.
