Lions Play Two This Weekend Out of Conference

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Dec. 8, 2022) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball, winners of two straight, continue on this week to play two nonconference games, one at home and one on the road.

Previously vs. East Stroudsburg
• This is the second straight season these teams are meeting. The Warriors took the first ever matchup last season 94-55 in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
• Georgian Court got off to a slow start and trailed 48-16 at the break. 
• Clint Wright, Jr. led the team scoring 17 points, going 3-4 from three.
• Off the bench, Davon Floyd and DJ Alicea each scored 10.

Previously vs. Delaware State
• These teams played back in 2017 with Delaware State coming out on top 68-55.
• The Lions trailed by just six at the half, 35-29. 
• Nikola Vujovic led GCU scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds.
• Sean Barksdale added 11 points. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court improved to 2-0 in conference play as they defeated Goldey-Beacom 70-62 in Wilmington Tuesday night.
• Georgian Court shot 53.2% overall including going 15-23 in the second half. Goldey-Beacom shot 44% overall but were just 4-23 from three and 8-13 at the free throw line.
• With less than five minutes remaining and leading by two, GCU went on an 8-0 run highlight by back-to-back threes from Jelani Jackson to put the game away.
• Jamaal Waters led all scorers with 19 points going 8-14 for the field with six rebounds and four steals.
• Clint Wright, Jr. added 16 points. He grabbed six boards as well.
• Jelani Jackson scored 10 going 2-3 from three.
• Shane Williams was 2-3 from three and scored eight points with six rebounds and three assists.
• Jalen Bates scored six points and dished out five assists with four rebounds, two steals and a block.

Who's Hot?
• Clint Wright, Jr. has hit double-figure points in all seven games played this season. He scored a season-high 22 against Holy Family
• Justin Soranno has made at least three field goals in six straight games. 
• Shane Williams has made at least one three-pointer in each of his last six games and is averaging 9.5 rebounds in conference play. 
• Jelani Jackson reached double-figures for the first time this season at GBC. He knocked in a pair of three-pointers in the win. 
• Jamaal Waters has at least eight FGM in five of seven games this season. 

Individual Milestones
• Clint Wright, Jr. needs 13 more points to become just the sixth Lion to ever reach 600 for a career. 
• With four more made three-pointers, Jelani Jackson will become the 10th Lion to make 50 in his career. 
• Jamaal Waters is closing in on 100 points with 98. 
• Shane Williams needs nine more assists to get into the GCU all-time top-five. 
• Titus Beard is three assists away from 100. 

Lions in the CACC
• In CACC games, Georgian Court leads the league in scoring defense allowing just 60 points per game. 
• Jamaal Waters is currently third in the league and with 9.0 rebounds per game. He's also third shooting 55.1%.
• Clint Wright, Jr. is second in the CACC in free throw percentage at 92.9.
• Jalen Bates is second in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2-1. 
• With four blocks per game, the Lions as a team are third in the CACC. 

About the Opponents
East Stroudsburg Warriors

• East Stroudsburg is unbeaten to start the season and enter Friday's game receiving votes in the NABC Coaches Poll.
• The Warriors were picked to win the PSAC East Division in the preseason.
• ESU has a high-powered offense that is third in Division II averaging 98.8 points per game. They've hit the century mark in four of seven games this season.
• The Warriors are also fourth in the NCAA shooting 52.2% overall. 
• The ESU defense hasn't been too shabby either. They're in the top-10 in the country in turnovers forced and steals per game. 
• Lakeem McAliley is shooting 72% from the field which is sixth in D2. 
• McAliley is fourth in the PSAC scoring 18.2 points per game and Carlos Pepin is seventh at 17.3. Pepin also leads the team with 8.7 rebounds per contest. 

Delaware State Hornets
• The Hornets are in the middle of a seven game losing streak and are 1-8 to start the season.
• This is coming off a year when they were 2-25 and 0-14 in the MEAC.
• DSU is scoring just 64.4 points per game this season and shooting 43% overall.
• Khyrie Staten leads the team averaging 12.3 points per game with 12 three-pointers.
• Brandon Stone is scoring 11.6 and shooting 44.4% from three while also leading the team with 5.4 rebounds.
• Martaz Robinson has passed out 31 assists to go along with 6.3 points per game.
