Lions "Play 4 Kay" Tomorrow vs. Bridgeport

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Jan. 27, 2023) - Saturday afternoon the Lions will don a new unofficial color. It's the annual "Play 4 Kay" game to raise money and awareness for the Kay Yow fund.

Play 4 Kay
• The Kay Yow Cancer initiative is a fundraiser to raise funds for all cancers affecting women.  
• Georgian Court will wear their pink uniforms Saturday afternoon.
• A donation table will be set up and available pregame, postgame, and during the game to collect donations. 100% of the proceeds will be given to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Previously vs. Bridgeport
• This is the first season Bridgeport is a member of the CACC.
• The last time GCU and Bridgeport played was in December of 2018.
• The Lions lost to the Purple Knights by 15, 73-58, on that afternoon in Lakewood. 
• Safiyyah Lee and Destiny Thompson were in double-figures with Lee's 17 points leading the way.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court started to get some reinforcements back as A'nyah Barker made her season debut. She sparked GCU to a 68-53 win over Holy Family.
• The Lions held the Tigers to just 16 first-half points and put the game away in the third thanks to an 11-1 run as they jumped ahead 44-21.
• Five Lions were in double-figures led by A'nya Harper's 15. She also came down with six rebounds and six steals.
• Savawn Hughes scored 13 with six coming at the free throw line. She grabbed a game-high nine rebounds as well.
• Jariah Patterson added 12 with four rebounds.
• Tian Addison picked up an 11-point, 10-assist double-double while also pulling down five rebounds and swiping three steals.

• Jariah Patterson has reached double-figures in six of her last eight games, averaging 12.4 points during that span. 
• Tian Addison has at least two steals in each of her last nine games. She also dished out 35 assists her last four and reached double-figure points in four of five. 
• A'nya Harper is averaging 11.25 points and 8.25 rebounds her last four games. 
• Savawn Hughes has at least six rebounds in seven straight contests and is averaging 15.6 points in her last six games.

• Tian Addison's 37.7 minutes played lead the league. She's also third with 4.5 assists per contest. 
• Savawn Hughes is fifth grabbing 5.3 defensive rebounds per game. 

About the Opponent
Bridgeport Purple Knights

• Bridgeport comes to Lakewood mired in a four-game losing streak. Since the calendar turned to 2023, the Purple Knights are just 1-6.
• The Purple Knights have actually done a better job on the road this season, playing to a 4-5 record. They're 8-12 overall and 4-7 in CACC action.
• The teams runs through Amani Melendez and Stephanie McBride. Melendez is scoring 14.9 points per game to lead the team.
• Melendez lets it fly from three. Her 60 three-pointers made lead the league and are fifth most in the NCAA. 
• McBride is nearly averaging a double-double with 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
• McBride is also leading the league shooting 47.3% overll and blocking 1.9 shots per game. 
• While Bridgeport is shooting 31.7% from three, third best in the league, they are the bottom allowing 34.5% on opponent three-pointers.
