Lions Prep For Final Nonconference Game Tomorrow in Connecticut

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Jan. 30, 2023) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball has one final nonconference game left this season tomorrow evening on the road.

• This is the first ever meeting between Georgian Court and Southern Connecticut. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court snapped a four-game losing streak and finally picked up their elusive 10th win of the season. 
• GCU rolled past another Connecticut school, Bridgeport, 86-72.
• The Lions scored 40+ in both halves and shot better than 50% in each half as well. They finished 31-59 for 52.5% overall while hitting 9-23 from downtown.
• Jamaal Waters led all scorers with 29 points. He was 13-19 overall with 11 rebounds and three dunks.

• Clint Wright, Jr. is closing in on 150 career three-point field goals needing five more and 26 points will bring him to 800.

• One more three-pointer and Shane Williams will become the fourth Lion to make 75 in his career.

Jalen Bates will set the GCU all-time record for single season steals with eight more.

Southern Connecticut State Owls

• After winning 10-of-11, Southern Connecticut is currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak. All three of those losses are against teams in the top-four in the Northeast 10 however.
• Overall this season, Southern Connecticut is 13-8 and 8-6 in the Northeast 10. When playing at home they are 7-2.
• SCSU started off the year with back-to-back losses to CACC schools in Post and Bridgeport. They then won their next three against CACC competition.
• Playing against No. 14 ranked Bentley on Saturday, the Owls trailed by just two with a minute to go before Bentley scored to go up four and went on to win by five.
• Two things the Lions do well, offensive rebounds and steals, the Owls also do well. Like GCU they lead their league in those categories. Marty Silvera is secodn in the NCAA with 2.81 steals per contest. 
• Three Owls score in double-figures led by Ulyen Coleman with 14.9. Sean James scores 12.5 but leads the team with 52 three-pointers. He scored 27 against Bentley hitting 7-of-14 from downtown.
