PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 25, 2023) - After outscoring Chestnut Hill 38-22 in the second half, Georgian Court Men's Basketball erased a seven-point halftime deficit to end the regular season on a high note with a 67-58 win over the Griffins. The win puts the Lions record at 12-15 and 8-9 in the CACC heading into the conference tournament.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court shot 44% overall but were 13-23 in the second half. They sank six three-pointers with four coming after intermission and were 9-14 at the free throw line.
• Chestnut Hill had a terrible night shooting 27% overall and were just 1-25 from behind the arc. They stayed in the game thanks to going 25-32 at the foul line.
• Georgian Court also won the battle on the glass grabbing 44 to the Griffins 39.Â
• Chestnut Hill opened the game with five straight points. The Lions didn't get on the board until a
Clint Wright, Jr. layup two-and-a-half minutes in.
• The Lions offense was stagnant at the start as they scored just six points in the first 9:30 while CHC took a 15-6 lead.
• Georgian Court got hot in a hurry though thanks to a 14-4 run capped off by a Wright, Jr. three and the Lions took their first lead of the game, 20-19 with 6:51 to play in the half.
• Chestnut Hill closed the half on a 17-9 run though and led by seven at the break, 36-29.
• The Griffons maintained a small lead throughout the early part of the second half. Wright, Jr., who was hot all night, hit back-to-back threes and tied the game at 42 at the 12:57 mark.Â
• Leading by two, 55-53, the Lions defense took over. They allowed just five points in the final 6:45. They scored six straight down the stretch to push the lead to eight and
Cameron Edmonds was 4-4 at the foul line in the final 21 seconds as the Lions went on to win 67-58.
It Was Over When...
• Georgian Court grabbed a rebound and called a timeout to regroup with a minute to play leading by six. Following the timeout,
Jamaal Waters finished a dunk that put the Lions up eight, 63-55 and kept the game out of reach down the stretch.

Clint Wright, Jr. had the hot hand scoring a game-high 25 points going 10-16 overall and 5-8 from behind the arc. He also grabbed seven rebounds.

Cameron Edmonds added 17 off the bench scoring at the foul line where he wsa 6-7. He grabbed six boards and dished out a team-best four assists as well.

Hassan Jackson was 5-7 for 10 points.

Jamaal Waters scored seven points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
For the Griffins
• Amir Warrick scored 16 points with six rebounds.
• Nigel Haughton chipped in with seven points and a team-best eight rebounds.
• Conor Regan, Trevonn Pitts and MJ Iraldi all scored 11 points.

• Georgian Court held Chestnut Hill to just 27% shooting overall and 4% from three, all season lows for GCU opponents.

• For just the second time, Georgian Court is in the CACC Tournament. They finished as the No. 3 seed in the South Division and will travel to take on Bloomfield, the No. 2 seed in the North Division Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.
