Lions Go For Third Straight at Home Against Dominican

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Feb. 3, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball goes for their third straight win Saturday afternoon in a CACC cross-division matchup.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day
• Saturday's game will center around National Girls and Women in Sports Day. 
• This is the 37th annual NGWSD which began in 1987.
• It's meant to inspire girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. 
• Prior to the Lions game, GCU Women's Basketball will hold a clinic in the Wellness Center Arena. 
• Halftime will feature a brief scrimmage from the Shore Aces Youth Team.

Previously vs. Dominican
• The Chargers visited Lakewood this time last year as well and were handed an 82-78 loss.
• Georgian Court trailed by six entering the fourth quarter, but outscored Dominican 29-19 over the final 10 minutes. 
Tian Addison gave GCU the lead for good with a layup with 1:36 left. Then extended that lead with a three-point play.
• GCU iced the game going 7-10 at the free throw line in the final minute.
• Four Lions were in double-figures led by Addison's 20. Erika Aspajo added 16.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court has been idle for a week following their 77-59 win over Bridgeport last Saturday.
• The Lions never trailed, racing out to a 12-0 lead. They put up 41 in the first half and led by 16 at the break. 
• Jariah Patterson led all scorers with 23 points going 4-7 from three with five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
• Tian Addison nearly had a double-double with 12 points and nine assists. She also grabbed three boards and three steals.
• Savawn Hughes also nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. 
• A'nyah Barker was 5-7 from the floor and 5-6 at the line for 15 points.
• A'nya Harper scored seven and pulled down seven rebounds.

Who's Hot? 
• In just two games, A'nyah Barker is scoring 13 points per game and shooting 77% from the floor. 
• Jariah Patterson has reached double-figures in four straight averaging 16.5 points per game and was last week's CACC Player of the Week. 
• Tian Addison has at least two steals in each of her last 10 games. She also dished out 44 assists her last five and reached double-figure points in five of six. 
• Savawn Hughes has at least six rebounds in eight straight contests and is averaging 15 points in her last seven games.

• Tian Addison needs just one more rebound to get to 200 and seven assists to reach 250. 
Savawn Hughes is one rebound shy of 250 for her career. 
• With 10 more rebounds, Andjela Kremenovic will get to 100.

• Savawn Hughes is fifth grabbing 5.4 defensive rebounds per game. 

Playoff Picture
• Including Saturday, there are just six games left in the regular season. 
• In the CACC South Division, which sees the top-four teams making the CACC Tournament, the Lions are in a tie for fourth with Goldey-Beacom with a 5-6 league mark. 
• GCU lost to the Lightning at their place in December, but those teams will meet again Wednesday, Feb. 8.
• The top three teams in the CACC South all have at least nine wins and are closing in on clinching a playoff berth. 

About the Opponent
Dominican Chargers

• Dominican is currently in a playoff position themselves sitting in second place in the CACC North. 
• The Chargers are 13-9 overall and 8-4 in the CACC. 
• After starting out the 2023 calendar year winning three straight, Dominican has dropped three of their last five. 
• While the Chargers are 7-2 playing at home, they are just 5-7 on the road.
• Dominican likes to play long ball. They take the second-most three-pointers in the CACC, 23 per game. They're just sixth however hitting 29.3%.
