LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 8, 2023) - After a back-and-forth first half with nine ties and 11 lead changes, Goldey-Beacom took over in the second-half en route to an 89-66 win over the Lions. The loss drops the Lions below .500 in the CACC for the first time this season at 6-7 and to 10-13 overall.
How it Happened
• The Lions held their own, shooting 44% compared to the Lightning's 45%, but GBC doubled-up the Lions 12-6 on three-point baskets.
• Under the basket, the Lightning held a 39-33 edge in rebounding and 17-8 on the offensive glass. That turned into a 20-6 difference in second-chance points in favor of the Lightning.
• Goldey-Beacom did an excellent job holding onto the ball. They committed just six turnovers while the Lions lost it 17 times. Points off turnovers played out in an exact 1-1 ratio with GBC outscoring the Lions 17-6.
• The first half was non-stop action with the Lions shooting 52% overall, 4-8 from three and 10-10 at the free throw line. Goldey-Beacom took an early lead, 18-9 before the Lions started coming back.
Cameron Edmonds made up the difference himself connecting on two three-pointers and was 3-3 at the foul line to tie things at 18 with just under 11 minutes to play in the half.Â
• From that point on, neither team led by more than three points the rest of the half, with the lead changing hands on multiple occasions.
• Edmonds made a pair of free throws to put the Lions up one, 40-39, with 23 seconds left to play, but the Lightning took the lead into the break following a three-point play from Ayshion Centeno.Â
• Things were still tight to start the second half.
Jalen Bates went 1-2 at the line to put the Lions up one, 47-46 with 17:13 left to play. That's when things changed. In a 5:43 span, the Lightning outscored the Lions 21-2, hitting 8-11 overall to take their largest lead, 67-49.Â
• GBC would eventually push their lead to 20, 79-59, and the Lions never recovered falling 89-66.
It Was Over When...
• Georgian Court threatened to withstand the 21-2 run by bouncing back with four straight points. However the Lightning went on another scoring streak, this time 16-3, to put the game out of reach.

Cameron Edmonds scored 19 points, 17 in the first half sinking 3-6 from three with five rebounds.

Jelani Jackson was also in double-figures with 16 points.

Jamaal Waters scored eight and pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.

For the Lightning
• GBC was led by Ayshion Centeno. He scored a game-high 30 going 9-14 overall, 3-5 from three and 9-11 at the line.
• Zayon Marsh recorded a double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds. He also blocked five shots.
• Damani Thomas hit 7-11 from behind the arc and scored 29.

Jelani Jackson becomes the 10th Lion to sink 60 three-pointers.
• The Lightning's 12 three-pointers and 46.2% from three are high marks against the Lions this season.
• The Lions bench put up 41 points.
• Georgian Court will play three of their final four games on the road.
