Lions Track and Field Back in Action This Weekend

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 31, 2023) - This weekend Georgian Court Track and Field will be split among two meets. Half of the team will compete at the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point in North Carolina and half will be at the Ramapo Invitational in Mahwah, NJ.

What: VertKlasse Meeting at High Point
When: Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1
Where: High Point, NC

A portion of the track events will be streamed on ESPN+. Live results are available at the link above.

On the track at High Point, GCU will see Kyle Spector and Alec Valle competing in distance events. Sprinters Wayne Robinson, Noah Roach and Henry-Jean Michel will be in action.

The Lions will have plenty of field event competitors. For the men, Robbie Babson, Julian Rodriguez, Jan Volkmar, Joseph Sauchelli and Jesse Devero are set to compete.

On the women's side, jumpers Aniyah Russell, Shanae Rayside, Jaison-Ashley Pleva, Julia Kirschnick and Elena Martinez-Rodriguez will take flight. Throwers Elena Keck and Sheridan Martinez will be throwing again after each set personal-bests last week.

What: Ramapo Invitational
When: Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1
Where: Mahwah, NJ

While this is a two-day meet, Georgian Court only has competitors on day two.

The forecast for Saturday in New Jersey is less than ideal and the schedule has already been revised once. The first events on the track and the first field events are now scheduled to start at 12 p.m.

There will be lots of action on the track for GCU. Sprinters Domenico Darcy, Sean Donnamaria and Terrell Moore are entered. The distance team is represented by Joseph Jamolawicz, Kevin Knoetig, Dylan Navarro, Thomas Rosky and Will Spector. Dylan Breen is set to compete in the horizontal jumps.

It's a similar set up for the women. Shalom Adzakro, Malama Toure and Ingrid Zuniga-Rivera are the lone competitors in field events. Adzakro is also entered in the 100m hurdles. Sprinters Yanely Bohorquez-Gonzalez, Molly Burns, Samantha Lonseth and Aaliyah Thorpe are entered along with distance runners Amirah Beasley, Niya Barden, Selma Cazimoska and Ashlee Pataky
