PUEBLO, Colo. (May 26, 2023) - Georgian Court Track and Field sophomore Jan Volkmar finished up his time at the 2023 NCAA Championship meet. Volkmar didn't have the success he was hoping for, getting through nine events of the decathlon and officially taking a "Did not finish".

On day one, Volkmar competed in the first five decathlon events to start off National Championship Weekend. In the 100m dash, Volkmar had the seventh-fastest time running 11.20. He then followed that by jumping 22-6.25 in the long jump which was 10th in the field. Volkmar improved on each of his jumps. 

The third event, the shot put, also saw Volkmar's best mark come from his final attempt. He threw 41-5.75 which was eighth. Volkmar set a personal-best in the high jump clearing 5-10.75. That clearance was 13th in the field.

The final event of day one was the 400m. He ran 52.73 which was 13th and gave him 3542 points through five events.

Volkmar got through the first two events on day two. In the 110m hurdles, he ran 15.19 which was 12th in the field. He moved up to eighth in the discus throwing 124-9 which came on his first attempt.

Volkmar was one of the highest seeded decathletes in the pole vault. Things did not work out for him and he failed to clear a bar which netted him a score of zero for the event. Volkmar still competed in the javelin where he was fifth throwing 172-11. That was the final event for Volkmar as he did not start in the 1500m and officially got a did not finish in the decathlon.
