Women's Soccer Takes on Post to Close Out Regular-Season Home Slate

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 3, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer scored early and often with a 5-2 home win over Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday. The Lions are back at home on Monday afternoon for the final time this season.

Last Time Out
• Chelsea Lavezzo's second hat trick of the season spurred Georgian Court to a 5-2 victory over CACC foe Goldey-Beacom last Tuesday.
• Sophia Ridolfo added a goal in the first half while Seanna Boan scored late in the second. 
• The Lions equaled their season best with five goals. The last time GCU tallied six or more goals was in 2021, an 8-0 win over the College of Staten Island. 
• Georgian Court outshot the Lightning, 22-13, but both sides had 10 shots on frame.  
• GCU held the edge in corner kicks, 5-2. 

Strong Start to Season
• With its 10-4-2 record, Georgian Court is off to its best 16-match start since 2019, when the Lions started 11-4-1.
• GCU's 7-2 record in CACC play is also its best since 2019, when it started 7-1-1 en route to an 9-2-1 conference record.

Lavezzo Levels Up 
• Following Tuesday's hat trick, star freshman Chelsea Lavezzo sits tied with Krystal Hund for eighth in Lions' single-season history with 14 goals.
• Kelly Lyons holds both the single-season goals record and goals by a freshman with 22 tallies in 2008.
• Lavezzo is also the first Lion with two hat tricks in a season since Hund's 2018 campaign.
• The freshman is also the first Lion with four multi-goal contests since Elizabeth Kroon amassed four in 2015.  

Individual Milestones
• Senior Ashley Merizalde is one match away from 70 in her career. 
• Forward Abby Kennelly is 46 minutes away from 4,000 in her career.
• Kennelly sits 10th all-time at GCU with 119 shots. Next up is Aliya Canfield with 124 career shots.
• Chelsea Lavezzo sits tied with Krystal Hund for eighth in Lions' single-season history with 14 goals. Next up is Kelly Lyons and Hund with 15 scores.
• Lavezzo's 14 goals also moves her two away from the top-10 in career goals at GCU. 
• Lavezzo's 30 points has her one point away from the top-10 in single-season points at GCU.
• With three more assists, Seanna Boan will move into the program's top-10 in a single season. 

CACC Leaders (into the weekend)
• With 13 goals in her last 11 matches, Chelsea Lavezzo is fifth in Division II and first among freshmen nationally with 14 total goals. 
• Lavezzo is also eighth in the nation and first among freshmen nationally with 30 points. 
• Seanna Boan is sixth in the CACC with five total assists. 
• Abby Kennelly, Chiamaka Wokocha and Breana Parkinson all sit eighth in the CACC with four total assists. 
• Emma Bennett is second in the CACC and 26th nationally with a 0.864 save percentage. The senior also sits third in the conference with a 0.914 goals against average. 
• The Lions are second in the conference and rank 24th nationally with 28 assists. 
• GCU is third in the CACC with 5.19 corners per match.
• GCU's average of 7.75 shots on goal per match is third in the conference.
• Georgian Court is averaging 1.94 goals per match, third best in the conference.
• Georgian Court's back line has allowed just 16 goals in 16 matches for a 1.000 goals against average, good for fourth in the CACC. 

  Who's Hot?
• Chelsea Lavezzo has broken out with 13 goals in her last 11 matches and was previously named CACC Rookie of the Week for five consecutive weeks.
• Chiamaka Wokocha has tallied points in four of her last seven matches away from home, adding an assist in GCU's last road match at Lincoln.
• Abby Kennelly has an assist in three of her last four matches, including one in last Tuesday's win.
• Delaine Wilkinson has recorded clean sheets in back-to-back starts for the first time in her career.
  
Series History vs. Post
• Georgian Court has dominated the all-time series, 30-3-5.
• GCU has an eight-match unbeaten streak in the series, a run which dates back to 2015. The Lions have only lost once across the last 21 contests dating back to 2006.
• Furthermore, Georgian Court has been particularly dominant at home against Post. It sits 20-1 all-time at home against the Eagles, with its one loss coming in the series opener in 1988.
• However, Post salvaged a home draw last season in Connecticut. Ashley Merizalde scored a second-half equalizer.
