Lions Open Up the 2025 Season on the Road

Pleasantville, NY (Sept. 5, 2025) - The new season of Georgian Court Women's Soccer gets underway as the team hits the road for back-to-back away games this weekend.

Previously vs. Pace
• Last season the Lions and Pace met in Lakewood.
• The Lions controlled the game, holding the ball for 60% of the game. 
• Georgian Court put three goals in the net, while Pace only finished one. The Lions opened their season with a 3-1 win against the Setters. 
• This is the tenth time the Lions and Setters will meet. GCU is just 2-5-2 all-time against Pace. 

Previously vs. Southern Connecticut
• The two teams have not gone head to head since 2006. 
• 19 years ago when the two teams matched up the Owls came out on top with a 2-0 win. 
• This was the first and only game played between GCU and SCSU.  

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court won their first round CACC Tournament game last season at home against Bridgeport.
• The team then went on the road to play at host Jefferson in a 1 vs. 4 match up. The lions struggled against the Rams, falling 3-0 in the conference semi-finals.

• Coming into the season the Lions were picked to finish fifth in the CACC regular season.
• Thomas Jefferson, last year's CACC champs sit at number one. 

Team Aims to Repeat Season Opener Victory
• The Lions are 1-8-1 in their last ten season openers.
• Last year they opened up with a win against Pace.

About Pace
• A year after a 4-8-5 record, Pace is looking for their first winning record since the 2019 season.
• In the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches Poll, the Setters were picked to finish tenth in the 10-team league.
• The Setters Associate head coach Brittany Soto was elevated to head coach for the 2025 season. 
• The Setters do return some of their key players from a year ago, both leading goal scorers Alexis Lee and Ava Viebrock will return for their senior seasons. 

About Southern Connecticut
• Last Season SCSU finished .500 with a 6-6-6 record. 
• They fell to Adelphi 4-3 in the conference quater finals.
• The Owls were picked to finish seventh in the NE10 Preseason Coaches Poll.
