DALLAS (March 5, 2026) - What a week for Georgian Court Baseball's
Brian Guzman. Earlier this week, Guzman was named the program's first ever CACC Player of the Week. That wasn't all though as the junior had more honors yet to come for his prodigious week. Not only was he named the conference's Player of the Week, he has now been selected as the East Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA), another first in program history.Â
Guzman and the Lions played five games last week, which started back on Monday, February 23 with the finale of the three-game series against Lynn, and continued with the four game tournament this past weekend in Wilson, NC, February 27-March 1.Â
Over those five games, Guzman started all five and hit .476 going 10-21 with a double, triple, two home runs, six runs scored and six driven in. He also drew three walks for a .542 on-base percentage. Guzman was a help in the field as well seeing time at both first base and in left field.
In the five games, Guzman picked up multiple hits in four. GCU twice faced St. Thomas Aquinas last weekend and Guzman was a combined 5-8 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored.Â
Georgian Court is back in action this upcoming weekend. They play in Olney, Maryland for their final weekend before conference action starts up.Â
