NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 24, 2026) - For the first time in the history of the program, members of the Georgian Court Baseball team were awarded with a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Academic Team. The league announced the All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon with three Lions receiving the honor.
In order for student-athletes to be eligible, they must have completed a minimum of two semesters at their current institution with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.50 following the preceding term. They must also be a second-year student-athlete at their institution and have competed in at least 67% of a team's games or started 50%.
Because one of the requirements is all student-athletes must be at least a second-year student-athlete at their institution, Georgian Court did not have any eligible students following their first season as a program in 2025. This year, three Lion upperclassmen,
Matt DiOttavio,
Jack Greenspan and
Ely Houston earned All-Academic Team honors.
This is the second academic award this season for Greenspan and Houston who were also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Greenspan is a junior on the diamond and senior academically with a 3.92 GPA studying Biology. The Freehold, NJ native led GCU in batting this season hitting .333 while playing in 41 of the team's 46 games and making 38 starts. Greenspan also led GCU with a .446 on-base percentage and was second with 46 hits. He finished the year scoring 26 runs, driving in 23 with six doubles, two triples and a home run.
Houston, a sophomore from Nokomis, FL is a Business Administration major with a 3.51 GPA. On the mound, he led the Lions in appearances with 22, throwing 23.1 innings in relief. Houston had an 8.10 ERA in those 23.1 innings with 21 strikeouts.
DiOttavio fell just short of the games played minimum to qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, but fit the criteria for the CACC All-Academic Team. The sophomore from Downington, PA has a 3.51 GPA while studying Sports Management. DiOttavio finished the year hitting .269 in 34 games, making 27 starts, most of them coming at third base. His bat came alive during conference play where in 55 at bats he hit .382, highest on the team with more than 10 at bats. He ended the year with hits in seven straight games and 11 of his final 12.
