Lions Baseball Adjusts Schedule, to Play at Pitt-Johnstown This Weekend

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 5, 2026) - As has been said many times throughout the years, spring schedules are merely a suggestion. That's proving quite true for Georgian Court Baseball, especially this weekend as they're readjusting their schedule to accommodate all the snow and rain that has fallen.

Instead of playing four games against three teams in Olney, Maryland this weekend, the Lions will head to Pennsylvania for a three-game series with Pitt-Johnstown.

• This is the first ever meeting between these teams. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court got a win on the board last weekend playing in Wilson, NC.
• GCU defeated Clarion 8-2 for their first win of the year. Michael Zitola, Jr. pitched a complete game allowing two runs on nine hits.
• While the Lions dropped the other three games, they were be a combined six runs, with the largest margin of defeat three runs.
• In the weekend's final game, the Lions had the tying and winning runs on base in the ninth, but couldn't get a hit to drive them in in a 3-2 loss.

Who's Hot?
• Zitola, Jr.'s start was the best by a Lion this season and just the second ever complete game in team history.
Ryan Bilello, last year's leader in innings pitched, appeared in his first game throwing two shutout innings.
Brian Guzman is riding a six-game hitting streak with multiple hits in four of his last five games.
Zinny Kemahu has hits in four straight and an RBI in three of four.
• In his first start of the season against West Virginia Wesleyan, JP Mahoney reached base four times with two hits and two walks.
Oliver Santana played his first games of 2026 and has a .529 on base-percentage after his first four games. 

CACC Stat Leaders
• As a team, Georgian Court is tied for second in the league in home runs. 
Brian Guzman is 11th in the league hitting .440. He's second among players with at least 20 at bats. 
Jack Greenspan is in the CACC top-10 with six drawn walks.
• Michael Zitola, is tied for ninth in the CACC in strikeouts and is seventh in innings pitched. 

CACC Player of the Week
Brian Guzman became the first Lion to ever claim a CACC Player of the Week award, doing so last week.
• Guzman hit .476 going 10-21 with a double, triple, two home runs , six runs scored and six driven in.
• Guzman's three walks also gave him a .542 on-base percentage.
• Last season, Georgian Court had a Rookie of the Week in Israel Garcia. This is their first Player of the Week award in program history. 

About the Opponent
Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats

• Pitt-Johnstown is off to a 7-5 start to the season.
• They're making their way around the CACC, having already play Wilmington and Dominican, going 1-2 against those two squads.
• The Mountain Cats have a strong stable of arms with a team ERA of 4.80. Jared Dowey has been downright dominant in three starts allowing just one earned run and striking out 18 across 16 innings.
• Brian Pirone has also started three times with a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings having fanned 13. Roman Donis is yet to allow a run in three relief appearances with seven strikeouts.
• Scoring has been troublesome at times for Pitt-Johnstown. They're hitting .245 as a team, scoring 5.25 runs per game.
• Alex Ebeling leads the team hitting .400 with 12 hits in 30 at bats and has scored 12 runs.
• Zac LeGars and Calvin Iseminger have each driven in nine runs.
• The Mountain Cats aren't the most prolific power hitters with just one home run and a .353 slugging percentage.
• In the field, Pitt-Johnstown averages just over one error per game with 13 in 12 games and a .964 fielding percentage.
