NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 21, 2026) - Georgian Court Track and Field jumped right back into the swing of the things at the Shippensburg Midweek PR Bonanza last week. The meet not only lived up to it's name, but for Georgian Court, it doubled as the school-record breaking bonanza, as three Lion all-time records fell at the meet.
Due to the many great performances at the meet, Georgian Court received five of the eight CACC weekly awards.
Starting with
Daizhae' Brown who was named both the CACC Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week. This is Brown's second honor this season after also being named the ECC Field Athlete of the Year. Competing in the triple jump for the first time this outdoor season, Brown set a new personal-best jumping 37-10 which placed her fourth in the meet and fourth in Lions history. It's also the high-water mark in the CACC this season. She wasn't done, also competing in the long jump where she jumped 18-2.25 to finish fifth overall. That mark is just short of another personal-best this season.Â
On the track, freshman
Barone Vankline broke two GCU school records. He is now the Lions record holder in the 100m and 200m dashes and leads the conference in both events. Vankline went 10.66 in the 100m dash for seventh place and 21.30 in the 200m for second place. Vankline picked up the CACC Track Rookie of the Week honors.Â
The third school record went to
Mark Linton in the hammer throw. He threw 180-6 to win the competition and break the GCU all-time record. That was just one of two wins on the day for Linton. He also won the discus throwing 171-5 to be named the CACC Field Athlete of the Week. Linton leads the conference in both events this season. It's his second weekly award this season.
Also earning his second weekly award is
Chuck Smith as the Field Rookie of the Week. Smith had a big personal-best in the long jump with his mark of 22-1.50. That had him finish fourth in the event and he moved to sixth all-time in Lions history. The jump qualified him for the CACC Championship meet and has him ranked fourth in the league and as the league's top freshman.
Also getting recognized for their efforts on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll are
Brandon Rudder and
Sydney Hurley. If not for Vankline, it'd be Rudder who broke the school records in the 100m and 200m dashes. He ran 10.80 in the 100m and 21.79 at 200m which are now second in Lions history to his teammate. Hurley set a big personal-best in the pole vault clearing 10-6. That mark ranks third in Lions history and is leading the CACC.Â
There's just one week left in the regular season for Georgian Court Track and Field. Three throwers, including Linton, were accepted entries to the Penn Relays this Friday. The rest of the team will compete at the TCNJ Lions Invitational Friday and Saturday.Â
