SHIPPENSBURG, PA (April 17, 2026) - The Shippensburg PR Bonanza once again lived up to it's name. Though for Georgian Court, they might want to call it the Shippensburg SR Bonanza. As in School Record. Because three of those fell Thursday afternoon and evening for the Lions. Two of those came at the hands of
Barone Vankline who can officially call himself the fastest man in school history. The other by
Mark Linton who adds to his growing list of Lion records.
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
• There's a lot to cover in the sprints, and not just with the new school records.
Barone Vankline gets those honors after finishing seventh in the 100m dash running 10.66 and second in the 200m running 21.30 for the new top marks in GCU history.
• He wasn't the only one to break both of those records though. On any other day, it'd be
Brandon Rudder declared fastest man in school history. He too broke those same previously school records, but is now second only to Vankline, Rudder ran 10.80 in the 100m and 21.79 in the 200m finishing 10th in the 100m and sixth in the 200m.
• Not only are both of those marks 1-2 in those events in GCU history, they currently rank 1-2 in the CACC this season.
• There was even a third Lion sprinter to run a pair of personal-bests in those events.
Nick Jordan ran 11.47 in the 100m for 34th place. That puts him in a tie for ninth all-time in Lions history. His time of 23.62 in the 200m was 37th overall.
• Those three weren't finished. They teamed up with
Brian Kutney and won the 4x100m relay. It was the Lions first time running the relay this season and they did so in 42.71 which is second all-time and currently third in the CACC.
• Running below 800m for the first time was
Stephen Lane and he had a terrific showing. Lane was 16th in the 400m running 51.77 and 3rd in the 200m running 23.38.
• Lane was one place below
Marcos Murillo-Benavides in 15th place in the 400m. He ran 51.53, which is just shy of a personal-best mark.
•
James McCoy took 21st in the 400m in 53.76 and
Sean Donnamaria was two spots below him in 23rd running 54.02.
•
Joshua Tipaldo ran the 100m and was 49th in 16.74.
• The men's hurdle races also saw two GCU PR's. First was
Brian Kutney who placed sixth running 15.25 for the 110m hurdles. That time moves him to fourth in Lions history in the event.
• Also moving up the GCU all-time top-10 list is
Gary Boyd, Jr. He ran the 400m hurdles in 59.17 which is ninth in Lions history. It's also his first time breaking 60 seconds in the event at Georgian Court.
• Not to be outdone on the women's side in the 100m dash was
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir. She started her busy day with a personal-best in the 100m running 12.57 which was good for seventh place and sixth all-time in GCU history.
•
Leela McConnell ran an outdoor personal-best 200m time of 27.68 to finished 23rd.
•
Shalom Adzakro finished just outside the top-10 in 11th place in the 100m hurdles. She matched her season-best running 15.54.
Jumps
• Georgian Court's long jumpers had a good day. Starting with
Chuck Smith who jumped a full foot further than any other jump he's had at GCU this season. Smith finished fourth with a mark of 22-1.50 which is a personal-best and sixth in Lions history. He also went from unqualified to sitting third in the CACC.
• Just Agyare-Nkansah had a PR as well finishing 16th in the event at 19-0.5
• Daizae' Brown was in the top-five in both the long and triple jumps. She jumped the triple for the first time this outdoor season and immediately put herself at the head of the CACC jumping 37-10 which is both fourth all-time in Lions history and fourth in the competition. Brown was also fifth in the long jump with her mark of 18-2.25.
• After her PR in the 100m dash, Sveinsdottir set a second PR in the long jump. It's an outdoor PR jump of 17-8 which is sixth all-time in Lions history and puts her behind only Brown for second place in the CACC.
•
Shalom Adzakro had an important jump for the Lions. She finished 12th in the long jump at 16-6.50, but more importantly, that is a CACC qualifying mark and gives GCU three in the top seven in the conference currently.
• Georgian Court's
Matthew Sutton and
Shona Mutokuto finished back-to-back in the triple jump. Sutton took ninth place with his personal-best jump 43-7.75. Mutokuto was 10th at 43-7.
• GCU's vertical jumpers saw
Ivan Ramos-Lopez place 13th in the pole vault clearing 12-5.50. Boyd, Jr was 14th in the high jump getting over the bar at 5-5.
•
Sydney Hurley had a big PR in the women's vault. She cleared 10-6, a PR by more than a foot, and finished seventh overall. That new PR has her ranked third at GCU outdoors in the pole vault.
•
Juliana Dogostino had an 11th place finish in the women's high jump with her jump of 4-9.
Throws
• The other school record to fall on this day came from
Mark Linton in the hammer throw. Linton threw 180-6 to win the event and now owns the GCU records in the weight throw, discus, and hammer throw as he passes GCU Hall of Famer Pete Collins with his throw today.
• Linton wasn't finished with just the hammer throw though. He was the winner of the discus throwing 171-5. That was just two spots ahead of
Malicah Etienne who was third in the discus throwing 161-7.
• Etienne had another top-10 finish, placing sixth in the shot put throwing 50-6.75.
•
Thomas Menegus threw both the shot put and discus. In the discus, he was 16th with a mark of 127-6 while his shot put throw of 41-8.75 was good for 17th place.
•
Cameren Anderson set a new PR in the javelin. He finished in third place throwing 175-5.
• Also in the shot put,
Guius Dabney finished 10th throwing 47-5.25 and
