NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Sept. 14, 2026) Georgian Court Women's Soccer put together a strong week of play, earning a win and a tie while delivering impressive performances on both sides of the field.

Three Lions responsible for those victories were recognized this week as CACC Players of the Week. Chelsea Lavezzo's offensive spark led to her being named the overall Player of the Week. Delaine Wilkinson, who held down the net, earned Goalie of the Week, and Erynn Richey on the back line got Defensive Player of the Week. 

Lavezzo provided the spark the Lions' offense needed in their most recent match. After Georgian Court fell behind 1-0, Lavezzo stepped up and converted a penalty kick to even the score. Just 30 seconds later, she struck again, finding the back of the net with an impressive shot to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage. Her quick back-to-back goals ignited the Georgian Court offense, as the Lions went on to add two more goals and secure a commanding 4-1 victory.

In goal, Delaine Wilkinson played a key role in helping the Lions earn a win and a tie last week. Wilkinson recorded six saves in a scoreless draw against Southern Connecticut, keeping the Lions off the scoreboard and securing the shutout. She followed that performance with another six-save outing against Molloy, making several important stops to help Georgian Court secure the victory.

Richey continues to hold down the back line for the Lions' defense and was a vital piece of the team's success last week. Her strong defensive presence helped limit opposing scoring opportunities and provided stability on the back end.

Georgian Court Women's Soccer returns to the field this Tuesday, September 15, at 3pm as the Lions take on Bridgeport in their first conference matchup of the season.
