The Georgian Court University tennis squad improved to 5-9 on the year with an 8-1 victory over CACC-conference rival, Chestnut Hill College (5-11, 2-4 CACC). The match was much more competitive than the score let on.
Brittany Aimone (So.-Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and
Jennifer Miller (So.-Toms River, NJ) each went to tiebreaker sets to defeat
Erin Anderson (Jr.-Canton, CT) (4-6, 6-4, 11-9) and
Brittany Parker ((Jr.-Leola, PA) (6-4, 4-6, 10-3), respectfully.
Katarina Dockum (Island Heights, NJ/Central Regional) (6-2, 7-5), Natalie Grieci (So.-Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) (6-1, 6-4), and
Daisy Prendergast (So.-New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) (6-3, 6-1) earned straight-set singles victories for the Lions.
GCU won three very close doubles matches, as well. Aimone and Caitlyn Lawrence (Jr.-Toms River, NJ) (8-4), Grieci and Dockum (8-6), and Miller and Prendergast (9-7) paired up for doubles victories. The Lions are now 4-2 in CACC competition.
The Lions play their last home match of the season on Saturday morning when they take the court vs. Dowling College at 11:00 AM. They hit the road on Sunday for their final regular-season match as they travel to Philadelphia University to butt heads with the Lady Rams. Start time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
