Tennis No Match for Goldey- Beacom College ... Dropped 9-0

Wilmington, Del.- Georgian Court University dropped a 9-0 decision at Goldey-Beacom College Sunday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tennis play. The Lions tumble to 1-9 overall (0-6 CACC) while the Lightning improve to 7-1 (4-1 CACC).

GBC opened the session by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Lightning's #1 tandem of Laura Moreno (Fr.-Murcia, Spain) and Maria Victoria (So.-Totana, Spain) shut out Georgian Court seniors Mafi Leal (Guaynabo, P.R.) and Meredith Hoffman (Spring Lake, N.J.), 8-0.  Amina Mrad (So.-Berlin, Germany)  and Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Sr.-Bogota, Columbia) topped Kayanna Chandler (So.-Jackson, N.J.) and Annmarie Wodell (Sr.-Pt. Pleasant, N.J.), 8-1, in the second slot. Anastasia Melinikova (Sr.-Vladivostok, Russia) and Nina Sengl (So.-Puchheim, Germany) took down GCU's Deanna Daluise (Sr.-Manalapan, N.J.) and Brittany McLaughlin (Sr.-Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) in the #3 match, by an 8-0 decision.

In #1 singles play,Puentes Robinson bested Leal by a score of 6-0, 6-3, followed by Mrad's defeat of Chandler (6-1, 6-1) at #2. Sengl dismissed Wodell in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) in the third spot, followed by Melinikova claiming victory over Hoffman (6-1, 6-3) in the #4 contest. Francesca Beg (So.-Westbury, Wiltshire, England) defeated McLaughlin (6-0, 6-0) to win at #5 before Raquel Morais (So.-Belo Horizonte, Brazil) shut out Daluise (6-0, 6-0) at #6 to end the match. 

Georgian Court returns home for a conference match vs. Post University this Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
