Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's tennis squad snapped its nine-game slide Tuesday afternoon in the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center with a 5-3 triumph over visiting Post University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The Lions improve to 2-9 (1-6 CACC) while the Eagles still seek their first win of the fall campaign (0-7, 0-5 CACC).
Post's #1 doubles tandem of
Liza Dubrovskaya (Fr.-Rostov, Russia) and
Carolin Sure (Fr.-Waldshut, Germany) opened the contest with an 8-0 blanking of
Mafi Leal (Sr.- Guaynabo, P.R.) and
Meredith Hoffman (Sr.-Spring Lake, N.J.). GCU's
Kayanna Chandler (So.-Jackson, N.J.) and
Annmarie Wodell (Sr.-Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) countered with an 8-0 win of their own at #2, defeating
Gabriella Minicucci (Sr.-Watertown, Conn.) and
Jamie Wilkin (So.-Wallkill, N.Y.).
Deanna Daluise (Sr.-Manalapan, N.J.) and
Brittany McLaughlin (Jr.-Mount Vernon, N.Y.) provided the Lions a 2-1 lead going into singles action as the #3 pair defeated
Jasana Levy (Jr.-Meriden, Conn.) and
Miranda Polaski (Sr.-Agawam, Mass.), 8-2.
The Eagles snared points in the first two singles matches as Dubrovskaya dropped Leal, 6-0, 6-2 at #1 and Sure edged Chandler 6-3, 6-4 in the #2 match. GCU responded with victories at #3 and #4, respectively as Wodell topped Wilkin, 6-0, 6-1, and Hoffman cruised past Polaski, 6-0, 6-0. Daluise earned her second straight singles win with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph at #6 to give the home team the match.

ulianna Frenette (Fr.-Woodbury, Conn.) at #5 was unfinished due to darkness.
Georgian Court next competes Thursday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. contest vs. visiting Millersville University.
