NYACK, NY- For the third straight game, the Georgian Court University soccer team did not permit a goal as the Lions improved to 6-1 vs. the CACC (8-5 overall) with a 3-0 victory over Nyack College (4-7-1, 3-5-1 CACC).
Senior goalkeeper
Lindsay Hammond (pictured) registered five saves for her third consecutive shutout and fifth blanking of the season. In fact, Hammond has not yielded a goal since a GCU defender knocked in an own-goal during the 2nd minute (1:08) of the Lions' 4-1 victory at Goldey-Beacom College, September 29th (358:52 total minutes).
Three days after scoring her first collegiate goal (10/7 vs. Holy Family), sophomore
Alexa Niro again found the back of the net (36:55), this time off a feed from junior
Skyler Eiceman. Less than a minute later (37:49), Eiceman also netted her second goal of the year on an assist from freshman
Taylor Reinecke. Freshman
Katie Schieder closed the deal for GCU with an unassisted tally at 89:51, also her second of the campaign.
Georgian Court will take a its season-high, five-game winning streak down to Philadelphia University this Tuesday afternoon for the clubs' first meeting since last year's CACC championship game. Start time is set for 4:00 PM.
