GCU Tennis Falls to 0-2 with Defeat at Dowling College

STONY BROOK, NY- The Georgian Court University tennis squad fell to 0-2 on the young season as the Lions dropped a 6-3 decision to Dowling College in a match that took place at Stony Brook University Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions had a 2-0 advantage before a ball was even played as Dowling (1-0) had to forfeit two games due to a shortage of players. The Golden Lions rebounded nicely from the deficit, however, as they dropped GCU, 6-1, on the court.

The lone victory for Georgian Court belonged to sophomore Sarah Lockenmeyer as she topped Dowling's Alexa Speyer (6-2, 6-4) in the #5 singles slot.

After starting the year with two contests on the road, the Lions will play its home opener Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 PM vs. CACC-rival, Chesnut Hill College, in GCU's Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
