CALDWELL, NJ- The Georgian Court University tennis squad snapped a three-game losing streak with an 8-1 victory at Caldwell College Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions (4-7, 2-3 CACC) opened the match with a 3-0 sweep in doubles competition.
The #1 tandem of
Hilary Gall and
Lindsay Hammond defeated Caldwell's
Sara Wilkins (Jr.-Williamstown, NJ) and
Elizabeth Odell (So.-Allenwood, NJ) by an 8-3 score. The senior duo of
Brittany Aimone and
Natalie Grieci dropped
Olga Ndhlovu (Jr. Berganfield, NJ) and
Amanda Berry (Jr.-Swedesboro, NJ), 9-7.
Sarah Lockenmeyer and
Brooke Hull completed the sweep with an 8-2 dropping of
Danielle Levasseur (So.-Eastport, NY) and
Kierra Tims (Jr.-East Orange, NJ).
In singles action, GCU won five of the six matches, which included victories from Gall (#1, 8-3);
Sofia Sarkissova (#2, 8-1); Aimone (#3, 8-4);
Victoria Gaffney (#5, 8-2) and Grieci (#6, 8-0).
The Cougars fall to 1-11 (1-6 CACC) on the season.
Georgian Court stays on the road as they travel to Philadelphia University for its next match this Saturday at 12 PM.
