PHILADELPHIA, PA- The #6-seed Georgian Court University soccer squad shocked #3 Philadelphia University, 4-0, Monday afternoon in the CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinals. With the triumph, the Lions (9-8-2) advance to the CACC seminfinals for the fifth straight season.
GCU took a 1-0 lead at 21:27 when 2010 CACC Player of the Year
Kelly Lyons registered her conference-leading 18th goal of the season. Senior
Skyler Eiceman tallied her first of the campaign at 26:41, giving the Lions a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
In the second stanza, freshman
Nicole Petrosino hammered home her fourth score of the season at 63:21 before
Amanda Szewczyk sealed the deal for Georgian Court at 82:29 with her second of the year.
All-CACC second team goalkeeper
Shealyn Sullivan collected 13 saves in a stellar performance, earning her seventh shutout of the season (8th team SHO).
The Lady Rams, after defeating Georgian Court by a 3-0 score back on October 12, ends its season at 9-7-3.
Georgian Court will now take on #2 Chestnut Hill College Thursday afternoon at 1:30 PM as the Lady Griffins defeated #7 Dominican College today. #1 Wilmington University will face #4 Holy Family University at 11:00 AM.
Both games will be played on GCU's Investors Savings Bank Field in Lakewood, NJ.
