LAKEWOOD, NJ- The #3-seed Georgian Court University softball squad split its two games on Day One of the 2010 CACC Championship Tournament, falling to #6 Concordia College, 5-4, before knocking off #7 Post University, 17-9, in their second outing.
Game One
The Lions (34-16) coughed up a 4-0 lead as the Clippers plated two in the top of the fourth and three more in the top of the sixth to steal the victory.
2B Dena Frederick (Jr.-White Plains, NY) led the charge for Concordia (21-16) as she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including two ribbie doubles.
LF Maria DeMartino's (So.-Staten Island, NY) single brought in Frederick in the sixth to seal the win.
Alexa Rosella (Jr.-Howard Beach, NY) earned the win for the Clippers with
Theresa Magnani (Fr.-Bethpage, NY) picking up the save thanks to two scoreless innings of relief.
GCU ace,
Diana Sansevera fell to 21-8 in the outing, allowing five runs on 10 hits and four walks in the complete-game effort. The hurler also struck out six.

Lyndsey PeQueen laced an RBI triple in the home second and SS
Kelsey Cutler crunched her team-leading 10th home run, a three-run shot, in the third to account for GCU's tallies.
Game Two
Georgian Court proved that winning does not have to be pretty as the Lions and Eagles of Post University combined for 26 runs on 28 hits and eight errors in a CACC slugfest.
2B
Rachel Ruch (4-for-4, 4 R, 3 RBI, SB, BB) ended the game with a two-run home run in the sixth, giving the All-CACC first teamer the cycle! Ruch (pictured) had an RBI triple in the first , a single to center in the second and a fifth-inning double before her long ball completed the rarity.
Jess Comiskey (3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI), LF
Chelsea Long and PeQueen (2-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) also went yard for GCU.
Brooke Hull improved to 9-4 in the circle with 4.1 innings of relief work (2 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, K).
Stephanie Carrillo (Sr.-Los Angeles, CA) was collared with the loss for Post (16-30), allowing five runs on six hits in one frame out of the bullpen.
The Eagles' season comes to a close with the defeat. The Lions live to see Friday when they take on #5-seed Holy Family University at 12 PM.
