Georgian Court Reaches "Final Three" with 2-0 Day in CACC Softball Tournament

LAKEWOOD, NJ- After losing its first game of the 2010 CACC Championship Tournament Thursday, the Georgian Court University softball squad has now won three straight, including two on Friday, as the #3-seed Lions (36-17) will take on #2 Caldwell College (42-13) Saturday morning at 11:00 AM with the winner moving on to play top-seed Dominican College (36-13) in the championship round.

GCU defeated #5 Holy Family University (24-23) by the score of 6-2 before ending the day with a 2-0 victory over #6 Concordia College (22-17) in a rematch of Thursday’s first-round contest. The Clippers got the best of the Lions in that game, 5-4.

Georgian Court ace and 2009 tournament MVP, Diana Sansevera (pictured) won both contests on Friday in complete-game fashion and improves to 23-8 on the year.

1B Lyndsey PeQueen launched her third home run of the season, a solo shot, in the win over Holy Family. A day after hitting for the cycle, 2B Rachel Ruch went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a two-run homer vs. the Tigers.

In four tournament games, Ruch is batting .583 (7-for-12) with six RBI and seven runs scored.

The Lions will now have the difficult task of winning three on Saturday in order to repeat as tournament champs. The Cougars battle GCU after falling to Dominican by a 7-3 score this afternoon.
