LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University tennis squad enjoyed its first taste of victory on its home turf Thursday afternoon, drubbing Shippensburg University, 8-1, at GCU's Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
The Lions (2-4) swept the Raiders (0-3) in all six singles matches while scoring wins in two of the three doubles contests.
Brittany Aimone (6-1, 6-0),
Hilary Gall (6-3, 6-4),
Lindsay Hammond (6-0, 6-3),
Victoria Gaffney (6-1, 6-4),
Natalie Grieci (6-2, 6-2) and
Sarah Lockenmeyer (6-3, 6-0) all took home straight-set wins in singles action.
In doubles competition, the GCU duos of Gall and Hammond (9-7) and Aimone and Grieci (8-1) secured two key matches for the Lions.
Georgian Court hits the court again this Saturday afternoon for a 12PM home match vs. University of the Sciences.
