BRONXVILLE, NY-The Georgian Court University soccer team, led by
Kelly Lyons' hat trick, trounced CACC-rival Concordia College Saturday afternoon by a 4-0 score. The star forward solidified her status as one of the most prolific scorers in program history as the junior reached 50 goals for her career with the effort (54 games).
Lyons collected her third game-winning goal of the season at 5:11 as she hammered home a
Skyler Eiceman pass. She then increased the lead to 2-0 early in the second half (48:37) when she put away a
Candace Seaton cross. Lyons' final tally (and 50th of her career) came unassisted at 57:09 giving her eight goals in three career games vs. Concordia.
Teammate
Amanda Szewczyk put the proverbial icing on the cake at 85:15 with her first career collegiate goal on a
Cyn-Dee Wong cross, making the score 4-0.
In her second shutout of the season, GCU goalkeeper
Shealyn Sullivan collected seven saves.
With the victory, Georgian Court improves to 3-3-1 (3-1 CACC) while the Clippers slide to 2-7 (1-4 CACC).
The Lions return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome Goldey-Beacom College to Investors Savings Bank Field at 4 PM.
