LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University tennis squad won its second straight match and improved to 3-4 on the year (1-1 CACC) with a 5-4 defeat of University of the Sciences Saturday afternoon at GCU's Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
The Lions rebounded after dropping two of three doubles contests to win four of the six singles matches.
Brittany Aimone won her second straight singles outing in the #1 spot with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over USP's
Sara Durham (So.-Bridgeton, NJ). Hilary Gall improved to 5-2 on the year in singles play, winning her #2 match vs.
Bridget Frymoyer (Sr.-Shillington, PA).
The remaining GCU singles triumphs came courtesy of
Natalie Grieci at #4 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over
Desiree Vassalotti (So.-Vineland, NJ) and
Sarah Lockenmeyer in the #6 hole with a 6-2, 6-1 toppling of
Michelle Adamczyk (So.-Bensalem, PA).
The tandem of
Brooke Culver and
Victoria Gaffney earned Georgian Court's lone doubles win with a 8-6 defeat over USP's Adamczyk and Frymoyer.
The Devils fall to 1-4 (1-4 CACC) on the season.
GCU returns to action Monday afternoon with a CACC match at Concordia College at 3:30 PM.
