LAKEWOOD, NJ- The #4 Georgian Court University soccer squad dismantled #5 Chestnut Hill College, 5-1, Tuesday afternoon on Investors Savings Bank Field in the CACC quarterfinals and earn a place in the conference's "final four" for the sixth consecutive season.
Senior
Kelly Lyons led the onslaught for the GCU offense as she netted the first three tallies of the afternoon, giving her at least one goal in four straight contests. The hat trick increases Lyons' team-leading goal total to 15 on the year and gives her 20 multi-goal efforts (four hat tricks) in her illustrious collegiate career.
Chestnut Hill's
Kaelyn Pizarro (So.-Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) cut the Georgian Court lead to 3-1 at 71:07 when she rifled an unassisted shot from beyond the 18, her fourth goal of the campaign.
The Lions (11-8) put the contest out of reach shortly after as
Jennifer Molzon drilled her first score of the year at 75:42, followed by
Carleigh Gorman's second tally of the season at 78:02.
Gorman also collected an assist, as did
Nicole Petrosino,
Candace Seaton, and
Katie Schieder.
Shealyn Sullivan garnered the victory in net for Georgian Court, collecting three saves on nine Chestnut Hill shots.
The Griffins end the season at 9-10.
Georgian Court now takes on #1-seed Philadelphia University (15-2-2) Thursday afternoon at 4:00 PM. The Lady Rams avoided an upset by #8 Post University and defeated the Eagles, 1-0, in overtime Tuesday.
Thursday's semi-final match will be played at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Tickets for the match are $6 for adults, $3 for children, senior citizens and students with ID. Children under the age of 3 will be admitted free.
