LAKEWOOD, NJ- In the spring season opener for the Georgian Court University tennis squad, the Lions fell to visiting Kutztown University, 5-4, Saturday afternoon at GCU's Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
All four of Georgian Court's victories came in singles competition.
Sofia Sarkissova, playing #1 singles, defeated Rachel Grula (So.-Drums, PA) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Sarah Lockenmeyer also won in straight sets, dropping Chelsea White (Jr.-Landenburg, PA) by a score of 8-6, 6-4 in the #4 spot.
Brooke Culver breezed to a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in the #5 slot over Brittany Parsons (Fr.-Mechanicsburg, PA).

Natalie Grieci went extra sets in her #3 match, topping Tori Zander (Fr.-Pennsburg, PA) 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
The Lions fall to 5-10 overall in 2010-11 while Kutztown improves to 1-6. GCU returns to action with a 3:30 PM match at Philadelphia University on April 1.
