LAKEWOOD, NJ- On a day they lionized its alumnae, the Georgian Court University soccer squad made easy work of visiting Bloomfield College, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in CACC action. Five different Lions found the net, including
Alexa Niro, who enjoyed a homecoming of her own as the senior returned to the field for the first time since undergoing knee surgery in the spring.
GCU, winners of two straight, improves to 3-2 in the CACC (3-4 overall) while the Lady Deacons remain winless in conference play (0-4) and fall to 1-6 on the season.
The Lions opened the scoring at 8:20 when
Farrell Pomponio lofted a gorgeous crossing shot from the right corner that carried into the upper left side of the net for her fourth score of the year.
Amber Schlosser netted her fourth goal since last Saturday when she knocked home a deflected
Candace Seaton cross at 24:50 to make it 2-0.
Kelly Lyons closed out the first-half scoring and regained the team lead for goals at 37:20 as she popped in a penalty kick for her fifth tally of the campaign.
After a special halftime Homecoming ceremony to welcome back and honor a number of GCU's talented former student-athletes, the Lions returned to business in the second stanza with two more scores.

Erika Aponte shared the shutout in goal for GCU without having to save a single shot. The Lions outshot Bloomfield, 11-5.
Georgian Court returns to action Tuesday afternoon as Holy Family returns to Lakewood for the first time since losing to GCU in the 2010 CACC Championship Game last November. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
