KUTZTOWN, PA- The Georgian Court University tennis team dropped its second consecutive 5-4 decision Monday afternoon, this time at Kutztown University. The Lions were tripped up by the same score in its previous dual match back on September 14 vs. NYIT.
Sarah Lockenmeyer played a role in two of GCU's four points, first by joining teammate Maria Leal for an 8-5 doubles victory over Kutztown's tandem of
Hannah Pipkin (Fr.-Landisville, PA) and
Tori Zander (So.-Pennsburg, PA).
Lockenmeyer then rallied past the Golden Bears'
Chelsea White (Sr.-Landenberg, PA) in #3 singles with a pair of 6-3 sets.
Nicole Way improved her team-leading singles record to 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Zander in the #4 position.
The match of the day took place in the #6 slot as
Marian Rosado butted heads with Kutztown's
Nanalee Romano (Robesonia, PA). Romano swiped the first set, 6-2. However, Rosado grabbed the second by a 6-3 score before securing the victory over the Golden Bears' freshman with a 10-8 tie-breaker.
GCU falls to 1-4 on the season while Kutztown improves to 1-1 in the fall portion of its schedule.
Things do not get easier for the Lions as they host the two-time reigning CACC champions, Concordia College, Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 PM in the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center.
